Jersey City Launches Free Citymapper JC App

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Mayor Steven M. Fulop joins the Division of Transportation to launch Citymapper JC, a free app integrating all Jersey City transit services in one location to help residents and visitors use public transportation in and around Jersey City with confidence and ease. Customized for Jersey City travelers, the app provides information on local schedules, stations, and stops for all bus, PATH, rail, ferry, subway, and Via Jersey City rides with routes prioritized by local users’ preferences, including arrival times, shortest walking distance, cost, trip time, and City Mappermore.

“Jersey City is one of the busiest transportation hubs in the nation, and our work over the past decade has built a robust transportation infrastructure that is successfully expanding access to opportunities for our residents and making our streets safer,” said Mayor Fulop. “The launch of Citymapper strengthens our commitment to providing our community with innovative tools to access countless opportunities in the best and most affordable way they choose.”

“Jersey City continues to be a leader in investing in the systems and technology to make public transit the preferred option for visitors and residents,” said Mike Vaccarino, Head of North American Partnerships for Via. “We are thrilled to expand our long-term partnership by introducing Citymapper.”

Today’s announcement is part of the Fulop Administration’s commitment to expand access to opportunities for its residents and build safer streets. Cities with strong public transportation networks have been proven to connect more residents with jobs, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance quality of life.

Key features of Citymapper include:
  1. Customizable trips: Users can visualize all journey options and choose based on what is most important to them – such as speed, fewer transfers, less walking, or cost.
  2. Bus tracker: Users will see the live location of their bus in real time.
  3. Avoid disruptions: Users are automatically re-routed around disruptions and receive real-time updates and alerts based on street closures, traffic, and service delays.
  4. Safer biking: Cyclists have the ability to use turn-by-turn audio directions and choose quieter streets for their journey.

The Citymapper app is free in the App Store and Google Play.Citymapper benefits
