Police responded to four incidents at AJ’s GoGo Nightclub and Sports Bar over the weekend, a location that rarely has any police activity at all, cops said.
The incidents resulted in two separate arrests, one on charges of the theft of a cellphone and another on charges of assaulting officers.
The assault occurred early Sunday morning when police responded to a verbal dispute outside the go-go bar at 1:51 a.m., Secaucus police Capt. Dennis Miller said. When police arrived, they saw two males shoving each other, and when the officers intervened, one grabbed an officer by the shirt, Miller said.
He resisted arrest and struck the officers multiple times, Miller added.
Stefan Autie, 30, of Hackensack, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, as well as disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Mina Boles, 26, was arrested Sunday night after a cellphone was reportedly stolen at the nightclub. It was the second time a phone was reported stolen at the club over the weekend; the first was at 3:15 p.m. and did not lead to an arrest, Miller said.
Police are investigating whether the two incidents are connected, he said.
Boles was transported to Hudson County jail.
While the police were there Sunday night, they also took down a report of an assault, Miller said. The victim said he was assaulted earlier that evening but could not identify the assailant, he said.
The nightclub rarely generates police incidents, Miller said.
“Being called there at least three times in one weekend is not the norm,” Miller said.
