Texas Man Man Charged In Armed Home Invasion

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 40-year-old JISUN PARK of Carrollton, Texas on charges of armed robbery, armed burglary, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Norwood Police Department under the direction of Chief Christian Federici.

On Saturday, July 27, 2024, at approximately 12:20 p.m., officers from the Norwood Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting an armed home invasion at a private residence on Impatiens Way. Responding officers discovered that two adult victims and their children were confronted by an armed, masked man who entered their garage. The suspect pointed a handgun at them, announced a robbery, and threatened them. The victims began screaming and managed to scare the suspect off, prompting him to flee to a nearby wooded area. Multiple law enforcement agencies from surrounding jurisdictions responded to the incident and assisted the Norwood Police Department. Subsequently, officers searching the wooded area were able to locate the suspect, later identified as JISUN PARK, and took him into custody without incident.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad was notified, responded, and initiated a joint investigation with the Norwood Police Department, which included the recovery of items believed to be utilized by the suspect during the commission of the armed home invasion. The handgun that was recovered in this case was determined to be a pellet gun manufactured in the style of a Glock handgun.

As a result of the investigation, on Saturday, July 27, 2024, JISUN PARK was charged with first-degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second-degree armed burglary, N.J.S.A 2C:18-2a(1); third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(2); third-degree possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4e; and fourth-degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2c:12-1b(4). PARK was remanded to the Bergen County Jail for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella would like to thank the Norwood Police Department, Northvale Police Department, Closter Police Department, Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department, Alpine Police Department, Tenafly Police Department, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
