Sussex County Kicks Off the 2024 Summer Reading Program

SCLS Kicked Off the 2024 Summer Reading Program

Sussex County, NJ – All ages are invited to participate in Summer Reading at the Sussex County Library System (SCLS) through July 27. Simply read (or listen to) books and attend events then fill out raffle tickets to qualify for prizes. Stop by your local branch or visit sussexcountylibrary.org/summer-reading for complete details. These amazing kickoff events are just a sampling of the summer programming that is free and available to all.

On Thursday, June 27, teens and tweens enjoyed fun games and activities with Housel Fun & Fitness at the Dorothy Henry Branch in Vernon and the Franklin Branch in Franklin.

On Friday, June 28, kids and families were amused and amazed with the magical entertainment of Brian Richards at the Dennis Branch in Newton and the Main Library in Frankford. All ages enjoyed an interactive virtual tour of a Costa Rican Coffee Farm with Alejandro from the comforts of home.

On Friday and Saturday, adults and families belted out tunes with Lorraine Ferro from Life Center Stage at the Louise Childs Branch in Stanhope, the Sussex-Wantage Branch in Wantage, and the Main Library in Frankford. Finally, on Saturday, June 29 dinosaur adventurers met Terry the T-Rex and Kota and Lota the Triceratops at the Louise Childs Branch in Stanhope and the Sussex-Wantage Branch.

Thank you to the dedicated staff, enthusiastic volunteers, and community partners who contributed time and resources to make the 2024 Summer Reading Kickoff Events successful. SCLS looks forward to a memorable 2024 Summer Reading Program. Please note prize winners must have a Sussex County library card.
