Newark Man Charged With Burglary to Harrison Residence

On June 26, 2024, Harrison Police responded to the 400 block of Cleveland Avenue on a report of a black male attempting to break into a home. The owner of the house saw the suspect attempting to force himself into the home and trying to break the additional security chain attached to the door. The owner caught the suspect attempting to escape and ran after him. Detective Lecca and Sgt. Silva arrived on scene where a minor struggle ensued but was ultimately brought to the ground and placed under arrest. The suspect identified as Antwan Zimmerman, 37 of Newark, was transported to police headquarters where he became extremely uncooperative and refused to be fingerprinted on his charges. He was further charged with Burglary (Attempt), Possession of a Weapon (knife), Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (knife) and Refusing to be Fingerprinted. He was then turned over to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
