TENAFLY, NEW JERSEY
News Update from the Mayor
June 21, 2024
Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.
Thank you to our Tenafly volunteer Fire Department and all our first responders and neighboring communities that answered the call to a working house fire in Tenafly last week. Fortunately no one was hurt thanks to the efforts of all our emergency professionals.
As we continue to address rain storm challenges, the Borough Council and I have made an amendment to the Borough’s garage ordinance to help provide relief for homeowners with below grade garages. For details please call Borough Hall at 201-568-6100.
Congratulations to this year’s Tenafly High School Graduating class of 2024! It was a wonderful graduation ceremony last night, which also recognized this year as the 100th anniversary of Tenafly High School graduations.
Congratulations to Tenafly United U19 Boys Schwartzberg team for winning and coming out on top of the Northern Counties Soccer Association spring soccer league. Great work boys!
This Sunday, June 23 adults and families with children 5 and up can celebrate the longest day of the year and the official start of the summer with the Nature Center! A TNC Naturalist will lead participants on a summer solstice night hike to experience the sounds of summer, followed by a campfire and s'mores. Register today at tenaflynaturecenter.org
The September 17 Referendum has something for everyone: Tenafly’s school buildings are 50 to 100 years old and the annual budget leaves little for renovations. With a voter-approved referendum, Tenafly Public Schools could bring tax dollars back to Tenafly (instead of forfeiting that aid to other districts). Read about that strategy at tenaflyschools.org/vote. The Board of Education will discuss referendum funding and consider ballot language at its July 8 meeting. Save the date for Saturday, June 29 from 10 am to 2:30 pm at the Roosevelt Common for the Annual 4th of July Celebration hosted by Tenafly Recreation. Come and join in for rides, games, giveaways, food, contests, DJ and more!
The Tenafly students Interact Club is creating a video for Grandparents Day, September 8. The purpose of the video is to encourage people to spend time with Grandparents and Senior family members while engaged in, and recording short conversations or activities. Your video, or audio clip with a photo, should be limited to 30-45 second clips. Everyone is welcome to make a submission. All the completed videos and audio clips will be posted on the Interact Club YouTube Channel. Clips can be submitted to Winsten Lamb at email: 25wlam@tenafly.k12.nj.us The video will premiere on September 9.
Enjoy your weekend,
Mayor Mark Zinna
