Two Arrested, CDS Seized During Narcotics Investigation

On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, two individuals were arrested in Bayonne following an investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force and the Bayonne Police Department. During the course of the investigation, more than 180 grams of suspected cocaine, more than three pounds of suspected marijuana, multiple quantities of Alprazolam and Oxycodone pills and more than $3,000 in suspected proceeds from narcotics transactions were recovered. During the course of the investigation, numerous transactions were conducted with an undercover officer which included the sale of illegal narcotics and an illegal firearm.

Giovanny Alfaro, age 29, and Jamie Juarez-Castillo, age 23, both of Bayonne, were arrested without incident on Avenue C in Bayonne.

Alfaro is charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(1), a crime of the first degree; Four counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(2), a crime of the second degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(3), a crime of the third degree; Two counts of Conspiracy to Distribute (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1) and 35-5b(2), a crime of the second degree; Four counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C: 35-7a, a crime of the third degree; Four counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance within 500 Feet of Public Property in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1a, a crime of the second degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (marijuana) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(11)(a), a crime of the third degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Oxycodone) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10.5a(4), a second degree crime; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Oxycodone) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10.5a(3), a third degree crime; Three counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Alprazolam) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10.5a(3), a third degree crime; Two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a, a crime of the second degree; Unlawful Possession of Weapon (firearm) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1), a crime of the second degree; Possession of a Weapon (firearm) for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1), a crime of the second degree; Unlawful Disposition of a Firearm in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-9d, a crime of the fourth degree; and Money Laundering in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-25a, a crime of the third degree.

Juarez-Castillo is charged with two counts of Conspiracy to Distribute (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1) and 35-5b(2), a crime of the second degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(3), a crime of the third degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (marijuana) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(11)(a), a crime of the third degree; Two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C: 35-7a, a crime of the third degree; Two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance within 500 Feet of Public Property in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1a, a crime of the second degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Oxycodone) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10.5a(4), a second degree crime; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Oxycodone) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10.5a(3), a third degree crime; Three counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Alprazolam) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10.5a(3), a third degree crime; Two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a, a crime of the second degree; and Money Laundering in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-25a, a crime of the third degree.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force and the Bayonne Police Department with the investigation and arrests. The above charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6)
