The Summer Reading Adventure Begins June 27 at Your Sussex County Library

Newton, NJ – The Sussex County Library System (SCLS) invites all ages to join its 2024 Summer Reading Program: Adventure Begins at Your Library™ from June 27 to July 27. Simply read (or listen to) books and attend events then fill out raffle tickets to qualify for prizes.

Opening programs begin Thursday, June 27 with Housel Fun & Fitness bringing fun games and activities to teens and tweens at the Dorothy Henry Branch in Vernon at 10:00 am, and the Franklin Branch in Franklin at 12:00 pm.

On Friday, June 28, library favorite, Brian Richards, returns to present The Greatest Adventure Begins at Your Library Magic Show for kids and families. The magic fun will be at Dennis Branch in Newton at 10:00 am and the Main Library in Frankford at 12:00 pm.

All ages are invited to join a live tour of a Costa Rican Coffee Farm via Zoom on Friday, June 28 at 10:00 am. Adults and families with older children will enjoy Thanks for the Memories: Sing Along Concert and Collaborative Songwriting Adventure led by award-winning singer/songwriter Lorraine Ferro from Life Center Stage. Raise your voices with Ms. Ferro to the old pop and Broadway favorites on Friday at 11:00 am at the Louise Childs Branch in Stanhope or at 2:00 pm at the Sussex-Wantage Branch in Wantage. On Saturday, June 29 join Ms. Ferro at the Franklin Branch in Franklin at 11:00 am; the Main Library in Frankford at 1:00 pm; and the Dennis Branch in Newton at 3:00 pm.

Finally, dinosaur adventurers will enjoy a visit with Terry the T-Rex and Kota and Lota the Triceratops twins on Saturday, June 29. The Summer Reading Adventure: T-Rex Visits with Dinosaurs Arise will be at the Louise Childs Branch in Stanhope at 10:00 am and the Sussex-Wantage Branch in Wantage at 12:00 pm.

Visit the library throughout the summer for fun and educational events for all ages. Kids and teens will enjoy summer favorites such as Read to a Dog, STEAM activities, crafts, storytimes, book clubs, games, and so much more! Adults join the library for a wild edibles walk in Stokes Forest, fly fishing, self-defense classes, beekeeping, flower stamping; safari travel, and drum circles.

All events and programs are free and open to all. Prize winners must have a Sussex County library card.
