Collision Unit Investigating Hit-and-Run That Injured Bicyclist

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a hit-and-run collision that left a bicyclist seriously injured on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

Just before 5 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a bicyclist struck in the area of Garfield Avenue, Gates Avenue, and Seaview Avenue. Responding officers located a male bicyclist, later identified as a 21-year-old Bayonne resident, with life-threatening injuries. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene. The victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he is in critical, but stable condition.

During the preliminary investigation, a vehicle and person of interest were identified. The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this matter.
