Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon

On May 6, 2024, Detective Lecca responded to the intersection of Harrison Avenue and North 2nd Street on a report of a physical dispute between two males inside a NJ Transit Bus (#30) that involved a possible weapon. Upon arrival, both parties were separated, and the suspect identified as Jesus Miranda, 32 of Kearny, was arrested and found to be in possession of a knife. After further investigation, it was determined that the fight escalated into the street where the victim sustained multiple bruises to the head, lacerations to the face, and was bleeding profusely from the mouth. The victim was transported to Saint Michael's Medical Center for further treatment. Mr. Miranda was transported to police headquarters where the knife was seized and entered into evidence. He was charged with Aggravated Assault w/ a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Weapon (knife), Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose and Simple Assault. He was processed and released on a summons pending a court appearance.
