Englewood Man Charged With Sexual Assault, Child Endangerment, and Lewdness

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 34 year-old DAWID S. IWASZEK of Englewood, NJ on charges of criminal sexual assault by sexual contact, endangering the welfare of a child, and lewdness. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas Greeley.

On Thursday, May 23, 2024, the Englewood Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged incident of criminal sexual assault by sexual contact against a juvenile under the age of thirteen. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Englewood Police Department revealed that DAWID IWASZEK exposed himself and masturbated in public while in the presence of a juvenile under the age of thirteen.

As a result of the investigation, on Friday, May 24, 2024, DAWID IWASZEK was arrested in Englewood, NJ and charged with second-degree criminal sexual assault by sexual contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b; third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), and fourth-degree lewdness, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-4b(1). IWASZEK was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

During the course of the investigation, similarities were noted between this incident and at least two other incidents that previously occurred in the Englewood and Teaneck area. Those incidents remain under investigation by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, Englewood Police Department and Teaneck Police Department. Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Englewood Police Department and Teaneck Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
