Paterson Resident Arrested for Shoplifting at Target

Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Gary Davis (67), of Paterson, N.J., for shoplifting on April 29, 2024. On that date at approximately 2:31 pm, officers were dispatched to the Target store on a report of a shoplifter in custody. Officers Ryan Cleary and John Seragusa arrived at the store and located Davis being detained by security.

It is alleged that Davis arrived at the store, placed miscellaneous items in a shopping cart, and attempted to exit the store without paying. He was stopped prior to exiting by security and detained until police arrival. The total value shoplifted was $525.34.

Davis was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was charged with shoplifting and later released pending a court appearance on June 25, 2024 at the Essex County Courthouse.
