On May 11, 2024, at 5:07 P.M., a concerned citizen contacted the Secaucus Police and reported that a male within the Walmart Parking Lot, 400 Park Plaza Drive, was acting suspicious and possibly engaging in nefarious activity.

Detectives from the Secaucus Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit responded to the area and observed the male going in and out of a parked vehicle. Upon checking the registration on the 2019 Jeep Wrangler, it became known that the vehicle was stolen from New York on May 6, 2024. Detectives approached Brian Gilliam, 40, of Jersey City and placed him under arrest.

“The arrest is a testament that when the police and public collaboratively work together, we can curtail criminal activity,” Chief Dennis Miller said. “The Secaucus Police Department will respond to and investigate all reports of criminal acivity and proactively investigate them.”

Brian Gilliam was charged with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle [2C:20-10.2] and released pending his appearance in Court. This charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
