Bronx, NY Man Arrested On Sexual Assault Charges

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 38-year-old JORGE SANCHEZ of Bronx, NY on charges of aggravated sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated criminal sexual contact. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Elmwood Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Foligno.

On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, the New Jersey Division of Child Protection & Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that occurred in the past. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Elmwood Park Police Department revealed that JORGE SANCHEZ sexually assaulted a juvenile between the ages of 13-16 years old in Elmwood Park, NJ.

As a result of the investigation, on Friday, May 10, 2024, with the assistance of the New York City Police Department (NYPD), detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit located and arrested JORGE SANCHEZ in Bronx, NY. SANCHEZ was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A 2C:14-2a(2); second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-4a(1); and third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3a. SANCHEZ was detained by the NYPD pending extradition to Bergen County, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Elmwood Park Police Department and the New York City Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
