​Clinton Resident Arrested on Drug Charges Following Motor Vehicle Stop

Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Victor Romero (47), of Clinton N.J. on drug related charges following a motor vehicle stop on April 17, 2024. On that date at approximately 12:47 pm, Corporal Jeffrey Dean was monitoring traffic on Plymouth Street. It is alleged he observed a white Jeep Patriot make an illegal U-turn after exiting the highway in order to turn and head back towards Route 46. Corporal Dean conducted a motor vehicle stop and spoke with both the driver and Romero, who was a passenger in the vehicle.

While speaking with the driver, it is alleged that Romero would not obey the corporal’s request to remain still in the vehicle. Upon the arrival of Officer Cory Perrette, Romero was asked to exit the vehicle and was allegedly found to be in possession of a crack pipe and CDS. He was placed under arrest at that time.

A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed additional drug paraphernalia as we all an open container of beer which was located behind the passenger seat.

The license of the driver was determined to be suspended, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. He was issued several motor vehicle summonses and released. Romero was transported to police headquarters for processing. He was charged with possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, and having an open container in the vehicle. Romero was later released pending an initial court appearance on June 13, 2024 at the Essex County Courthouse.
