Homicide Unit Investigating Fatal Jersey City Shooting

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

At approximately 9 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of shots fired in the area of Central Avenue and Bowers Street. Upon arrival, officers located two victims with apparent gunshot wounds and were transported to Jersey City Medical Center. Freddie Posey, 25, of Jersey City, was pronounced dead shortly after 9:30 p.m. A 30-year-old Jersey City female was treated for an injury that is not considered life threatening.

A third victim, a 24-year-old Jersey City male, self-transported to University Hospital in Newark for a non-life threatening injury.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this matter. No arrests have been made at this time.
