Paterson Man Arrested For Sexual Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Hawthorne Police Chief James Knepper announce the arrest of Rossember Andrade Requeno, of Paterson, New Jersey. Mr. Andrade Requeno was charged on April 3, 2024, after an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Hawthorne Police Department.

On April 3, 2023, the Hawthorne Police Department received a report of an alleged sexual assault of an eleven (11) year old, female victim that took place within the Borough of Hawthorne. An investigation led by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office resulted in Mr. Andrade Requeno being charged with one count of first degree Sexual Assault, in violation of N.J.S. 2C:14-2a(1) and one count of third degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, in violation of N.J.S. 2C:24-4a(1). Mr. Andrade Requeno was taken into custody on April 3, 2024, by members of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office at 30 King Road in Totowa, New Jersey, without incident.

The sentencing exposure on first degree Aggravated Sexual Assault is fifteen (15) years to life imprisonment in New Jersey State Prison, with fifteen (15) years to be served before parole eligibility, pursuant to the Jessica Lunsford Act. On third degree Endangering, the sentencing exposure is three (3) years to five (5) years in New Jersey State Prison. If convicted, Mr. Andrade Requeno would be subject to Megan’s Law registration requirements and Parole Supervision for Life.

Mr. Andrade Requeno is currently in custody in the Bergen County Jail. The State has filed a motion for pretrial detention to be heard before a Superior Court Judge.

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite the accusation, defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, in a court of law.
