News Update from the Mayor

Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

The Recycling Center is open this Saturday, but will be closed on Sunday in observance of the Easter holiday.

Recreation is excited to announce the Counselor In Training Program for those ages 14 and up interested in training with Recky’s Summer Camp Directors and Staff to gain experience and skills in a camp setting. For details visit the Borough website under Parks & Recreation and register on Community Pass.

The Korean Community Center is hosting a new mixed medium art exhibition now through April 13 hosted by curator Julie Jang. Visit the KCC at 100 Grove Street and enjoy the exhibit.

The Tenafly Welcome! committee and the Nature Center are hosting a special afternoon for New Residents on Sunday, April 14 at the Nature Center from 1pm to 3pm. Lunch will be served and enjoy a private tour of the Nature Center. We look forward to seeing our new residents, rain or shine.

Join the Nature Center's Extraordinary Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30 for a new twist on searching for eggs! Children will search the forest for naturally dyed eggs in camouflage colors. The Family Forest School has space for children 18 months to 3.5 years to enjoy a 6-week series. Play will be hands-on, messy, and fun! Register for all at tenaflynaturecenter.org

Spring Athletics open up this coming Monday - Home games that day include Varsity Boys Baseball vs Bergenfield at 4:15 pm, on the Varsity Baseball Field, and Varsity Boys Lacrosse with a 7pm start on Geissinger Field. At the Senior Center you can attend classes to learn country line dancing, watercolor painting or how to play Canasta! Six week Wednesday evening classes are being held at the Senior Center beginning May 8. Classes are $85.00 for the six week session. Call the Center or stop in for details.

The Jersey Boyz collection drive for used Tenafly recreation jerseys and uniforms is underway through the end of March. They are collecting all sizes of Tenafly jerseys and uniforms from all recreation, club and travel team sports for kids in need. The drop off bin is located at 61 Elm Street in Tenafly.

Save the date! May 4 is the Tenafly Spring Fling. This exciting community event will host 60 plus vendors featuring plants, flowers, jewelry, clothing, candles, flowers, artwork and more. Plenty to eat with food trucks offering fabulous menus. Face painting, live music, a carousel and art activities. It will be a fun day for the entire community.
