Palisades Park Man Charged With Sexual Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 31-year-old JORGE ORREGO-GARCIA of Palisades Park, NJ on charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Acting Chief Matthew Finck and the Palisades Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Anthony Espino.

On Friday, March 22, 2024, the Palisades Park Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that occurred in the past. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that JORGE ORREGO-GARCIA sexually assaulted a juvenile under the age of 13 in Palisades Park, NJ.

As a result of the investigation, on Friday, March 22, 2024, JORGE ORREGO-GARCIA was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b; and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A 2C:24-4a. ORREGO-GARCIA was arrested in Paramus, NJ and remanded to the Bergen County Jail for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Palisades Park Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
