In early March 2024, a concerned citizen reported to the Secaucus Police that illicit drugs were being sold from a residence on the 200 block of Front Street. The Secaucus Police Anti-Crime Unit, under the supervision of Detective Sergeant Matthew Ford, launched an investigation to cooroborate or dispel the concerned citizen’s tip.

On March 21, 2024 at 7:00 P.M., detectives from the Anti-Crime Unit arrested Andres Marquez, 33, of Milltown, NJ, after he purchased a quantity of cocaine from Kathryn Jarvis, 40, who resides on the 200 block of Front Street.

After a month’s long investigation, the Secaucus Police Anti-Crime Unit, supported by the Secaucus Police K-9 Unit, conducted a Court authorized search of Kathryn Jarvis’ Front Street residence on March 21, 2024. During the search, quantities of suspected cocaine and methamphetamine were seized along with ledgers and drug paraphernalia that was indicative that Jarvis was packaging illicit narcotics for street sale.

“This arrest is a direct result of the partnership formed by the Secaucus Police and the community,” Chief Dennis Miller said. “The Secaucus Police Department will continue to investigate all tips and complaints generated by our residents. The Anti-Crime Unit continues to curtail criminal activity within Secaucus and I am thankful for their hard work, but am proudest of their motivation to eradicate crime that affects the quality of life in this Town.”

Kathryn Jarvis was charged with two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance [2C:35-5b(3)], two counts of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance [2C:35-10a(1)], Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance within 500 feet of Public Housing [2C:35-7.1a] and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with the Intent to Distribute [2C:36-3]. She was lodged in the Hudson County Jail. Andres Marquez was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance [2C:35-10a(1)] and released, pending his appearance in Court.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Tips can be made by calling (201) 330-2049, emailed to spdtips@secaucusnjpolice.gov or submitted anonymously through the department’s website at www.secaucuspolice.org.
