Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Rose Torres-Rice for shoplifting on March 8, 2024. On that date at approximately 2:10 pm, management from the Essex Adult Emporium, located on Route 46 East, contacted the Fairfield police stating a female had allegedly shoplifted from the store and was seen running across the parking lot towards the Red Roof Inn. The female, described as wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt, entered the store, and allegedly selected several pieces of clothing as well as an adult toy, and placed them on the counter while being helped by staff.

It is further alleged that Torres-Rice asked to use the dressing room, and when staff began to escort her that way, Torres-Rice returned to the counter, took the items placed there earlier, and exited the store without paying. The total amount shoplifted was $225.24.

Further investigation by Officer Daniel Kalinowski and Special Officer Juan Barroso led them to the Red Roof Inn at which time they recognized Torres-Rice from surveillance video observed at the store. She was placed under arrest without incident.

Torres-Rice was transported to headquarters where she was charged with shoplifting and later transported to the Essex County Jail pending an initial appearance.

(Charges are merely allegations until the defendant is proven guilty or pleads guilty in a court of law).
