Tenafly Resident Arrested for Shoplifting at Target

Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Eda Baruh (55), of Tenafly, NJ for shoplifting on February 17, 2024. On that date at approximately 4:37 pm, police headquarters was contacted by Target on a report of a shoplifter in custody.

Officers arrived on scene and located Baruh being detained in the security office. It is alleged that Baruh was observed on camera putting miscellaneous items into a shopping cart and proceeding to the self-checkout. Sheallegedly only scanned a few items in the cart, and then attempted to leave the store with all of the items when she was stopped by security. It is further alleged she was also wearing a pair of pants from the store that were not paid for. The total amount shoplifted was $988.50.

Baruh was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. She was charged with shoplifting, pending an April 24, 2024 appearance at the Essex County Courthouse. Baruh was also issued several motor vehicle summonses for which she is to appear at the Fairfield Municipal Court on February 29, 2024. She was later released pending both of those court dates.
