Shooting In the Area of 17th Avenue and Market Street in Paterson

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In- Charge Isa Abbassi announce that at approximately 8:10 p.m. on February 19, 2024, members of the Paterson Police Department were dispatched to Madison Avenue and Market Street on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival members of the Paterson Police Department did not locate a victim or crime scene. A short time later members of the Paterson Police Department were dispatched to St. Joseph’s University Medical Cetner in Paterson, New Jersey on a report of a 21-year-old male Paterson, New Jersey resident seeking treatment for non-fatal gunshot wounds. Subsequently, police were able to locate a potential crime scene in the area of 17th Avenue and Market Street.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
