North Bergen Man Charged With Sex Crimes On Juvenile

On Friday, February 9, 2024, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Edgar Rompich-Ramos, age 19, of North Bergen, on charges relating to sex crimes committed on a juvenile female. The crimes occurred in a North Bergen residence on various dates in 2023 when the victim was 11 years old. The victim is known to the defendant.

Rompich-Ramos is charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(1), a first-degree crime; Endangering the Welfare of a Child/Facilitating Child Sex Abuse Material in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b(3), a first-degree crime; and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), a third-degree crime.

Rompich-Ramos was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus without incident. He is being detained at the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance. The State has filed a motion for detention in this matter, which is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest.
