On September 9, 2019 at 2:05 A.M., a resident of First Avenue called the Secaucus Police Department and reported that two individuals were pulling on door handles of vehicles parked in the neighborhood.

The first responding officer observed Dashawn Bowens, 22, of Jersey City, quickly walk away and enter an alleyway of a residence on the 1100 block of Cedar Lane. When the officer exited his vehicle Bowens took off running through the yards of nearby homes.

A perimeter was quickly established, and Dashawn Bowens was found hiding under a deck in the backyard of a nearby residence of the 1100 block of Paterson Plank Road. At the time of his arrest, he was found in possession of proceeds, which were later determined to have been stolen from a vehicle in the area. The other individual fled the area on foot and was not apprehended as of yet, but the investigation is ongoing.

Dashawn Bowens was charged with Burglary [2C:18-2], Theft [2C:20-3a] and Resisting Arrest by Flight [2C:29-2]. Additionally, he was found to have an active warrant from Newark with a bail of $250.00.
