Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of SARJU PATEL (DOB: 08/19/1984; single; medical imaging technician) of 7912 River Road, Room 515, North Bergen, NJ on charges of stalking, cyber-harassment, and harassment. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

On Monday, January 29, 2024, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of SARJU PATEL during a stalking investigation. The investigation revealed that PATEL created social media accounts which utilized numerous vanity names in the likeness of the victims, posted photographs of the victims, “checked-in” online at various locations associated with the victims and their family members, and sent physical letters to the workplace of one of the victims, placing the victims and their families in fear of physical and/or emotional harm.

As a result of the investigation, SARJU PATEL was arrested on Monday, January 29, 2024 in Paramus, NJ and charged with fourth-degree stalking, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-10; fourth-degree cyber-harassment, N.J.S.A. 2C:33-4.1a(2); and harassment, N.J.S.A. 2C:33-4A, a petty disorderly persons offense. PATEL was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the North Bergen Police Department, Bergenfield Police Department, Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, and New York City Police Department for their assistance, as well as the Paramus, Saddle Brook, Englewood, and Washington Township Police Departments, which participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
