Bayonne Man Charged in Connection with 2023 Hit-and-Run

On Friday, January 5, 2024, members of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit arrested a 66-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Jersey City on February 10, 2023.

Rey Rosario, of Bayonne, is charged with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Collision Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1.1, a crime of the third degree, and Endangering an Injured Victim in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1.2a, a crime of the third degree. He was arrested on Monmouth Street in Jersey City and released pending his first court appearance.

On Friday, February 10, 2023, at approximately 7:45 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Communipaw Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard. Responding officers located a victim – later identified as a 39-year-old Jersey City woman – with multiple injuries. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene. The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center with serious injuries.

The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6)
