Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In- Charge
Isa Abbassi announce that at approximately 7:13 a.m. on January 1, 2024, members of the Paterson
Police Department were dispatched to the area of Governor and East 18th Street in Paterson, New
Jersey on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, members of the Paterson Police Department located
a potential crime scene in the area. A short time later, members of the Paterson Police Department
were notified that a 24-year-old male Paterson, New Jersey resident arrived at St. Joseph’s
University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey seeking treatment for non-fatal gunshot
wounds.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes
available.
