Guttenberg Police Blotter - December 18th, 2023 to December 24th, 2023

1. On December 19th, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 69-year-old Miriam Gonzalez of Guttenberg, NJ, after discovering that she had an active warrant issued by the North Bergen Municipal Court. During her arrest processing, Ms. Gonzalez was able to post the full bail amount and was then released on her own recognizance, pending her next court appearance at the North Bergen Municipal Court.

2. On December 19th, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a report of a burglary in progress on Hudson Avenue. During their on-scene investigation, and with the assistance of the victim, officers arrested 37-year-old Daniel Pena of Union City, NJ, for burglary [2C:18-2A(1)] and theft [2C:20-3A]. During his arrest, Mr. Pena resisted arrest and was also charged with resisting arrest [2C:29-2A(3)]. Following his apprehension, Mr. Pena was transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Pena was issued his complaint warrant and lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.

3. On December 22nd, 2023, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 30-year-old Anthony J. Varela of Union City, NJ, after discovering that he had numerous active warrants for his arrest. Mr. Varela was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. At police headquarters, Mr. Varela was processed and then subsequently released on his own recognizance, pending his next court appearances with the Pequannock Township, Kenilworth Borough, and Pompton Lakes Township Municipal Courts.

4. On December 22nd, 2023, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 39-year-old Kemberly J. Martinez of Guttenberg, NJ, after discovering that she had an active warrant issued by the Guttenberg Municipal Court. Ms. Martinez was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for her arrest processing. At police headquarters, Ms. Martinez was able to post the full bail amount and was released on her own recognizance, pending her next court appearance with the Guttenberg Municipal Court.
