Shooting In the Area of Berkshire and Chamberlain Ave

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Acting Paterson Police Chief Bert Ribeiro announce that at approximately 8:50 p.m. on January 23rd, 2023, members of the Paterson Police Department responded to the area of Berkshire and Chamberlain Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, police located a potential crime scene, but no victim was located. Shortly thereafter, members of the Paterson Police Department were advised that a 25-year-old male Paterson, New Jersey resident arrived at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey seeking treatment for a nonfatal gunshot wound. Based on the preliminary investigation the victim was in the area of Berkshire and Chamberlain Avenue when he was shot.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
