Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Acting Paterson Police Chief Bert Ribeiro
announce that at approximately 9:41 p.m. on February 13th, 2023, members of the Paterson
Police Department were dispatched to the area of 12th Avenue and Carroll Street on a report of
shots fired. Upon arrival, police located a 17-year-old juvenile who sustained a non-fatal gunshot
wound. The victim was immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in
Paterson, New Jersey for treatment. A short time later members of the Paterson Police
Department were advised that a 17-year-old juvenile, 18-year-old male Paterson, New Jersey
resident, and a 20-year-old male Paterson, New Jersey resident arrived at St. Joseph’s University
Medical Center seeking treatment for nonfatal gunshot wounds. Based on the initial
investigation it is believed the four victims were shot in the area Godwin Avenue and Summer
Street.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it
becomes available.
