Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Prospect Park Police Chief Ammen Matari
announce that at approximately 2:57 a.m. on April 10, 2023, members of the Prospect Park
Police Department were dispatched to the area of North 9th Street and Haledon Avenue in
Prospect Park, New Jersey on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, members of the Prospect
Park Police Department located a potential crime scene, but no victim was located. A short time
later, a 23-year-old female Fords, New Jersey resident arrived at St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical
Center in Wayne, New Jersey for treatment of a non-fatal gunshot wound. The victim was
subsequently transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey for
treatment.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it
becomes available.
