Shooting in the Area of Essex St and Madison St in Paterson, NJ

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer In-Charge Isa Abbassi announce that at approximately 11:34 p.m. on July 4, 2023, members of the Paterson Police Department were advised that a 20-year-old male Paterson resident and a 19- year-old male Paterson resident had arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey, via private vehicle, each seeking treatment for a non-fatal gunshot wound. Based on the initial investigation, it was determined that the victims were struck by gunfire in the area of Essex Street and Madison Street in Paterson. A potential crime scene was located in that area.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
