Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi announce that at approximately 12:50 a.m. on August 5, 2023, members of
the Paterson Police Department were dispatched to the area of Park Avenue and East 24th Street
on a report of shots fired. Upon their arrival, police located a potential crime scene, but no
victim was located. Shortly thereafter, members of the Paterson Police Department were advised
that a 17-year-old juvenile had arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson,
New Jersey, via private vehicles seeking treatment for a non-fatal gunshot wound.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it
becomes available.
