One Injured and One Dead After a Shooting in the Area of Putnam Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi announce that on August 23, 2023, at approximately 3:18 p.m., Paterson Police Department patrol units were dispatched to the area of Putnam Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard on a report of shots fired. While enroute to the location, Paterson Police received information that a 19-year-old male from Paterson with a gunshot wound to his abdomen arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center via private vehicle. A short time later, Paterson Police received information that a second victim, a 29-year-old male from Paterson, arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center via private vehicle for treatment of a gunshot wound to his leg. The 19-year-old victim was pronounced deceased. The 29-year-old victim is in stable condition.

This investigation is active and ongoing. More information will be released when it becomes available.
