One Teenager Killed and One Injured in a Hit and Run in Paterson

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi announce that on September 13, 2023, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the Paterson Police Department received information that three juveniles were involved in a hit and run in the area of 17th Avenue and East 33rd Street in Paterson, New Jersey. Prior to the responding officers’ arrival on scene, the victims were transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson in a private vehicle. At the hospital, a 17-year-old female was subsequently pronounced deceased. A second juvenile, a 16-year-old male, sustained a broken foot and was treated and released. The third juvenile, a 16-year-old male, did not report any injuries.

This investigation is active and ongoing. More information will be released when it becomes available.
