Clifton Man Sentenced to Seven Years

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announces that Wilfredo Guardia, age 65, of Clifton, has been sentenced for endangering the welfare of a seventeen-year-old child in his care.

Mr. Guardia was arrested on May 12, 2022, after an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, Clifton Police Department and Passaic County Sheriff’s Office. He subsequently pleaded guilty on June 7, 2023, before the Honorable Marilyn C. Clark, J.S.C., to one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child for engaging in sexual conduct with a seventeen-year-old child on multiple occasions at a residence in Clifton. On October 17, 2023, the Honorable Marilyn C. Clark, J.S.C., sentenced Mr. Guardia to seven years in New Jersey State Prison. Upon release from prison, Mr. Guardia will be subject to Parole Supervision for Life and Megan’s Law registration requirements.

Passaic County Senior Assistant Prosecutor Melissa Simsen represented the State during the sentencing hearing and Dominic Iannarella, Esq. represented Mr. Guardia.
