Jersey City Fire Under Investigation By Arson Task Force

On Sunday, February 19, 2023, at approximately 12:11 p.m., the Jersey City Fire Department received reports of smoke at 309 10th Street in Jersey City. Upon arrival, responding members of the JCFD located a fire in a single-family residence at that location. Upon entry, the first responders found an unresponsive male victim of the fire. The fire was contained to that residence by the JCFD.

The victim, a 50-year-old Jersey City resident, was transported to Jersey City Medical Center by Emergency Medical Services. He was subsequently transported to the Burn Unit at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston for further treatment. He is currently in critical condition, but stable.

The initial investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force has determined that the fire does not appear suspicious at this time, however, the Origin and Cause of the fire remain under investigation.

The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Fire Department.
