Gang Task Force Recovers Handgun During Investigation

On Monday, June 26, 2023, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Gang Task Force arrested a 43-year-old man and recovered a handgun following a months-long investigation.

Farrakhan Williams, of Jersey City, is charged with Possession of a Weapon While Committing a CDS Offense in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4.1a, Possession with the Intent to Distribute (marijuana) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(11), Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5j, and Certain Persons Not to Possess a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7b. He was arrested at his residence and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.

In the early morning hours of Monday, June 26, 2023, the Gang Task Force, with assistance from the Hudson County Regional SWAT Team, executed a court-authorized search warrant of Williams’ apartment on Danforth Avenue. The search resulted in the seizure of a handgun and over 270 grams of suspected marijuana.

The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
