Jersey City Quality Of Life Inspector Charged With Theft

On Friday, July 28, 2023, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Unit arrested a Jersey City Quality of Life Inspector following a theft investigation.

Zamir Thomas, 31, is charged with one count of Theft by Deception in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-4a, a crime of the third degree. He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and released on a summons pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, August 8, 2023. The investigation found that Thomas spent several hours at his Jersey City residence on multiple occasions while he was being paid to perform his duties as a Jersey City Division of Quality of Life Inspector.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Unit and the Jersey City Special Investigations Unit with the arrest and investigation. The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
