News Update from the Mayor

Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.
The DPW is using the street sweepers to tidy up our streets now that leaf pickup season is over. Please do not place any more leaves in the street for pick-up. If you have any leaves left, please put them into bio-degradable bags and call the DPW at 201-568-4134 to schedule a pickup.
The High School Medical Students of the Future Club is hosting a drive to collect new and used Magna tiles to support 6th grader Dashel Prywes’ tallest Magna tile tower dream. New and used tiles can be dropped off in the box near the Student Support Leader's office or room 146, (the bio wing), all tiles are appreciated!
The games for winter athletics officially opened this week. Girls basketball plays at THS on Saturday at Noon vs Paramus Catholic. Wrestling opens tonight vs Fort Lee at 7 pm. Boys basketball home opener is on Tuesday vs Dwight Morrow at 7pm. Our Ice Hockey team is 1-0 and Boys and Girls Swim at 2-0 are both off to great starts to their season.
Accompanied by outstanding orchestral musicians from the Tenafly High School, the Community Choir led by Director of Music Jim Millar will perform Vivaldi's Magnificat on Sunday, December 17 at 6:30 pm, at the Presbyterian Church. Free of charge.
Monday, December 18 is that last day to sign up for the Nature Center's Winter Break Camp running December 26 to the 29. Sign up for one day or all four and your child will enjoy fun nature experiences, discovery, and explore our forest and pond ecosystems. Register at www.tenaflynaturecenter.org
Mommy/Daddy and Me group meets Saturdays, 9:30 am to 11 am in the Church House, 55 Magnolia Ave. Coffee and chat for the parents and lots of fun toys for the kids. For age 5 and under, free of charge, all are welcome.
This coming Wednesday, December 20 at 6 pm is men’s night at the Senior Center. Stop in for shopping and dinner. Call the Senior Center to register at 201-569-2159.
