On November 30, 2023, at approximately 1:50 p.m., Police Officer Jessica Pizanie
and Joseph Lupo responded to the 1200 block of Park Avenue on reports of a
package theft, with the actor still on scene. An on-scene investigation revealed that
26-year-old Jourdan Maldonado of Jersey City took multiple packages that did not
belong to him and entered an unoccupied unit. Police Officers Dylan Arichilla and
Anthony Olivera arrived on the scene to assist and observed a bag of CDS on a
dresser. Maldonado was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and found to
have eight outstanding warrants. He was additionally charged with burglary, theft,
and possession of CDS and transported to the Hudson County Correctional
Facility.
On December 1, 2023, at approximately 12:35 a.m., Police Officers Enrico Gnassi
and Nicholas Protopapadakis responded to the 400 block of Washington Street on
reports of a fight. Sgt. James Barbro and Police Officers Jessica Pizanie and Rose
Kanan were already on scene with members of the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance
Corps. Upon arrival they observed two men with injuries including cuts and
bruises to their faces. One of the men said they had been jumped by other
individuals but would not give police a full statement. At one point one of the men,
identified as 25-year-old Ernesto Rueda of Irvington attempted to get inside the
ambulance where his friend was being treated. When officers asked him to exit the
ambulance, he began screaming obscenities at them and acted in an erratic manner
by putting his hands in the faces of officers. After ignoring several requests to
leave the area, he was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and obstructing
the administration of the law. During transport to Hoboken Police Headquarters,
Rueda allowed his body to go limp which forced officers to carry him. While being
processed, Rueda spit saliva at officers and continued to scream obscenities. He
was additionally charged with throwing bodily fluid at law enforcement officers.
He was released on a summons.
On December 3, 2023, at approximately 11:35 a.m., Police Officers Anthony
Ingraffia and Arturo Gonzalez responded to Hoboken Police Headquarters to
process the walk-in surrender of 35-year-old Alicia Hurtado of North Plainfield.
She was arrested on multiple open warrants which included: harassment in
Hoboken, simple assault in Westfield, theft in Secaucus, and simple assault and
hindering apprehension in Elizabeth. She was transported to the Hudson County
Correctional Facility.
On December 5, 2023, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Police Officers Anthony
Olivera and Jonathan Figueroa responded to the area of Eight Street and Willow
Avenue on reports of a male having a seizure on a bus. Upon arrival, Hoboken
Volunteer Ambulance Corps EMTs were putting the man, later identified as 35-
year-old Angel Turbides of Jersey City, into the ambulance after having
administered Narcan. When they arrived at Hoboken University Medical Center,
Turbides became agitated, combative, and refused to cooperate with officers. At
one point he became physically aggressive and bit the finger of one officer and
scratched another’s hand. Turbides was placed under arrest for two counts of
aggravated assault on police. Sgt. Wilfredo Gomez and Sgt. Adam Colon arrived
on the scene. Turbides was issued a summons and given a court date.
On December 5, 2023, at approximately 1:25 p.m., Sgt. Roary Miller and Police
Officers David Chicara and Geovani Cruzado responded to the Hoboken Public
Library, 500 Park Ave., on reports of a man inside who witnesses believed had an
active warrant. When they arrived, officers were directed to the second floor where
they located 46-year-old Reynaldo Portillo of Union City. It was confirmed by Sgt.
Adam Colon that there was a warrant from the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office for
the original offense of criminal sexual contact. Portillo was transported to Hoboken
Police Headquarters and then to the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office where officers
processed him and transported him to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On December 6, 2023, at approximately 2:35 p.m., Detectives Fabian Quinones
and Connor Milne were at Shoprite, 900 Madison St., investigating an unrelated
incident when the loss prevention officer alerted them to a known shoplifter in the
store. The detectives located the individual and identified him as 34-year-old
Richard Lopez of Jersey City. Det. John Quinones and Police Officer Arturo
Gonzalez arrived to assist. Sgt. Adam Colon located two active warrants for the
arrest of Lopez, both for shoplifting, including one on November 26, 2023, where
Lopez went into the store four times and stole items each time, totaling
approximately $318.54. Police Officer Daniella Simone took that report. Lopez
was placed under arrest and a search incident to arrest found him to be in
possession of a cylindrical glass pipe stuffed with copper wiring with a burnt end
commonly used to smoke CDS. He was transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters and additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He
was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On December 6th, 2023, Police Officers Ramon Calderon, John Cirillo, and
Christopher Barral responded to the 600 block of Sixth Street on reports of a
woman yelling in the hallway of a building. Sgt. Jason Falco also responded to the
scene. Officers located three people, none of whom lived in the building, which is
Hoboken Housing Authority property. One of the people, identified as 31-year-old
Denise Rivera of Hoboken, was found to have two outstanding warrants: one from
Hoboken and one from Florida. A man later identified as 30-year-old Osiel
Morales of Fairview, had four warrants from West New York and one from the
Hudson County Sherrif’s Office. Morales was placed under arrest. A search
incident to arrest located a glass cylindrical tube commonly used to smoke CDS in
his pants. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with
trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia, and four counts of bail jumping. He
was processed and transported to the West New York Police Department. Rivera
was charged with trespassing and bail jumping. She was released from police
custody with a summons and a future court date. A third person, 49-year-old
Phillip Realpe of Hoboken, was issued a summons for trespassing.
