Case updates November 30, 2023
On November 21, 2023 Millburn police responded to Eyechic sunglass store at the Short Hills Mall on a
report of a theft that just occurred. The store owner reported that a suspect just stole 5 pairs of Cartier
sunglasses with a total value of $13,000. Millburn Police Officer Dundon located the suspect In
Nordstrom’s parking lot. The investigation led to the arrest of Daryl Chambers, age 53, of Queens NY,
who was charged with shoplifting. The merchandise was recovered on the suspect.
On November 24, 2023 Millburn Police responded to Macy’s on a report of a theft that just occurred.
Macy’s loss prevention reported that they observed three Hispanic males concealing merchandise in a
shopping bag. They then exited Macy’s into the mall with out paying for the merchandise. Loss
prevention attempted to stop these individuals for shoplifting, but one of the males pulled out a knife
and threatened the loss prevention officer, and the fled the scene. The total value of merchandise stolen
was $2017. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On November 24, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Goldfarb responded to Macys at the Mall at Short Hills
for a theft that just occurred. Macys associates reported that Victoria Mayers, age 29, of Irvington,
concealed $798.00 of merchandise and left the store without paying. The suspect was placed under
arrest and charged with shoplifting.
On November 25, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Zonn responded to Nordstrom’s at the Mall at Short Hills
for a report of theft. Nordstrom’s associates reported that Ratna Parmar, age 69, of Marlboro NJ,
concealed $42.00 of merchandise and left the store without paying. The suspect was placed under
arrest and charged with shoplifting.
On November27, 2023 Millburn Officer Seebohm responded to a Western Drive residence on an
activated burglary alarm. While Officers were conducting a check of the residence, it was revealed that
someone may have made entry into the residence. This incident remains under investigation by the
Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On November 27, 2023, Millburn Police responded to a Slope Drive residence on a report of a stolen
vehicle. The homeowner stated that his vehicle, a 2022 Cadillac Escalade, was stolen from the street in
front of his residence. The vehicle was unlocked and the key FOB was left in the vehicle. This incident
remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On November 27, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Matos responded to Neiman Marcus at the Mall at Short
Hills for a report of theft. Neiman Marcus associates reported that Bernard Jonichea, age 32, of
Philadelphia PA, concealed $524.00 of merchandise and left the store without paying. The suspect was
placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.
On November 27, 2023, Millburn Police Officer O’Neil responded to Hilltop Road residence on a on a
report of a burglary to a vehicle. The owner reported that while she was parked at E-lot at the Short
Hills mall, someone entered her unlocked 2019 BMW X7 and stole her garage door remote and vehicle
registration. Several minutes later the same suspects, used the garage door remote to open the garage
to her Hilltop residence. The suspects were startled and ran way when another resident opened the
door leading to the garage. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective
Bureau.
On November 28, 2023 Millburn Police Officer Dalakian stopped a 2012 black Nissan Sentra on JFK
Parkway by Parsonage Hill Rd. The owner of the vehicle had an active arrest warrant out of Newark. The
investigation led to the arrest of Destiny Outing, age26, of Newark. Search incident to arrest recovered a
Glock 19 (9mm) handgun in her bag, which she did not have a permit to carry. She was charged with
unlawful possession of a weapon and lodged in Essex County Correctional facility.
