Case updates November 7, 2023

On October 20, 2023 Officer Jezewski located a parked unoccupied stolen vehicle at the Shorts Hills Mall. The vehicle was a 2023 Nissan Sentra stolen out of Massachusetts. Officers were able to view CCTV from mall security and locate the driver and a passenger exiting the vehicle and entering the mall. The suspects were stopped and detained by police. The vehicle was searched and impounded. The search yielded a crack pipe. The driver of the vehicle Norma Scott, age 61, of Newark NJ was placed under arrest, and charged with receiving stolen property and possession of CDS. The passenger was also arrested on multiple active warrants, and later released to Livingston Police on their active warrant.

On October 21, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Reid responded to a Wyoming Ave residence on a report of a burglary to the residence. The resident reported that at 07:45 am she noticed several things out of place on the first floor of her residence. An unlocked window was now open in the dining area of the house. It was apparent that an actor gained entry through the unlocked window and stole cash and credit cards from the homeowner’s purse. The actor the left through the front door, which was now unlocked. There was a suspicious dark colored sedan, in the area at the time of the burglary. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On October 21, 2023, at 1:05 pm, Millburn Police Officer Griffin responded to Nordstrom’s at the Mall at Short Hills for a report of a theft that had just occurred. Nordstrom’s Loss prevention reported Darnel Aladin age 22, of Maplewood, stole $298.00 worth of merchandise and left the store without paying. The investigation led to the arrest of Aladin. She was charged with shoplifting, and was later released on her own recognizance

On October 24, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Czupak responded to Wyoming Ave residence on a report of a burglary to a commercial van that just occurred. The investigation revealed that a suspect vehicle, a black suv, pulled alongside the commercial van. A passenger got out of the BMW and entered the commercial van through the driver side door, and stole a black backpack. The actor then fled the area. Millburn Detective Sergeant DeRosa was able to identify the suspect, who was a juvenile. The Juvenile was charged with juvenile delinquency (for the burglary of the van and theft of movable property).

On October, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Matos and Officer Seebohm responded to Nordstrom at the Mall at Short Hills for a report of a shoplifting theft that just occurred. Nordstroms loss prevention reported that two females were in custody for shoplifting. Heaven Bishop and Skyla Brown (both age 18), of Newark, had concealed merchandise with a total value of $786.00 and left the store without paying. The investigation led to the arrests of the two female suspects. They were charged with shoplifting and obstruction and later released on their own recognizance.

On October 27, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Jezewski and Officer Reid responded to Marc Jacobs at the Mall at Short Hills on a report of a shoplifting theft that just occurred. Marc Jacobs manager reported that a group of individuals, two females and a male entered the store and proceeded to select and conceal merchandise (total value of $1675.00) and left the store without paying. Officer Jezewski located one female suspect, Shaquasia Butts, age 31 of Neptune NJ, in the mall and arrested her. The investigation led to the arrest of Jason Stlouis, age 23, of Yardville NJ, and Jaylah Davis, age 22, of Asbury Park NJ. All three suspects were charged with shoplifting, and given a court date. They were then released on their own recognizance.

On October 29, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Griffin responded to a Silver Spring Road residence on a report of a burglary to the residence. The resident reported that they just arrived home from vacation and noticed that their residence had been ransacked. Officers discovered that unknown actors forced entry to the home. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On October 31, 2023 at 03:36 pm, Millburn Police Officer Matos located a stolen vehicle in parking lot-D at the short Hills mall. The vehicle was a 2023 Chevy Silverado truck. Millburn Officers were able to stop the vehicle, and take the driver and passenger into custody. The driver Marques Bernard, age 30 of Englishtown NJ, had a warrant out of East Windsor NJ. He was charged with receiving stolen property and released to East Windsor PD. The passenger Medina Paul, age 22, of Hi Nella NJ, was charged with receiving stolen property.

On October 31 2023, Millburn Police Officer Marone responded to a Lawrence Drive residence on a report of a burglary to the residence. The resident reported that sometime early that morning an actor gained entry through a rear door. The actor stole a key fob for a 2023 BMW X7, which was parked in the Garage. The actor then drove away in the homeowner’s vehicle. The stolen vehicle was recovered the next day in the Bronx NY, and two Juveniles were brought into custody, and charge with juvenile delinquency for receiving stolen property.

On October 31, Millburn Officer Matos responded to a Fairfield Drive residence on a report of a burglary. The suspects gained entry to the residence through a rear sliding glass door. There was nothing missing. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On November 2, at 6:45 pm Millburn Police Officer Kostovski responded to Wells Fargo bank at 281 Millburn Ave on a report of an attempted theft. The caller stated he was withdrawing cash from the ATM, when a black male, approached the ATM and said give me $20. The suspect then lunged towards the money, while it was being dispensed, but the caller was able to grab the money first and run away. The actor was seen getting into a white Jeep with no plates. Millburn Police Officer Kostovski stopped the suspect vehicle on Essex Street. The driver was positively identified as the theft suspect, and was placed under arrest. The suspect was identified as Dondrey Johnson, age 21, of Jersey City. He was charged with attempted theft, receiving stolen property, and hindering apprehension. He had warrants out multiple jurisdictions.
