​Teaneck Resident Arrested for Shoplifting at Target

Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Javaun Cooper (32), of Teaneck, NJ for shoplifting on October 28, 2023. On that date at approximately 2:49 pm, officers were dispatched to the store on a report of a person being detained by store security.

Officer Patrick Reynolds investigated and located Cooper being detained by security. It is alleged that Cooper was observed by security concealing two electronic Ember Mugs in a bag, then placing them underneath other items in a shopping cart. It is further alleged that Cooper then used self-checkout to purchase all the items in the cart with the exception of the two mugs. Cooper then walked past all points of sale and was stopped by security. The total value shoplifted was $399.98.

Cooper was transported to police headquarters for processing where he was charged with shoplifting and later transported to the Essex County Jail in Newark, NJ pending a first appearance.
