Guttenberg Police Blotter - September 25th, 2023 to October 1st, 2023

1. On September 25th, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division located a male who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, dancing in the middle of Park Avenue in the rain. The male was in the roadway with oncoming traffic, and visibility was extremely poor due to the rain. Officers spoke with the male, attempting to have him move off the roadway to prevent an accident. The male failed to move out of the roadway and dodged oncoming vehicles. At that time, officers arrested 56-year-old Derek M. McCabe of Guttenberg, NJ, for disorderly conduct [2C:33-2]. While officers attempted to handcuff Mr. McCabe, he resisted arrest and was also charged with resisting arrest [2C:29-2]. Once secured, Mr. McCabe was walked into the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. McCabe was issued his complaint summons and released from police custody.

2. On September 26th, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division were informed by various motorists that a vehicle was idling in the middle of 70th Street, preventing vehicles from proceeding down the roadway. Our officers were also informed that the driver of that vehicle appeared to be asleep. As officers approached, the vehicle began driving westbound on 70th Street, where officers were eventually able to conduct a motor vehicle stop. During the motor vehicle stop, officers arrested 44-year-old Steven V. Reyes of Fairview, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. He was then taken to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Reyes was issued his summons and released from police custody.

3. On September 27th, 2023, the Hackensack Police Department contacted our agency, informing us that they had arrested a male who had an outstanding warrant out of our municipal court. Officers of our Patrol Division responded to the Hackensack Police Department, where they took custody of 37-year-old Reynaldo DeLacruz of Paterson, NJ. Mr. DeLacruz was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. At police headquarters, Mr. DeLacruz was able to post the full bail amount of $550.00. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. DeLacruz was released pending his new court date with the Guttenberg Municipal Court.

4. On September 27th, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division located and arrested 47- year-old Juan Moyet of Guttenberg, NJ, who had an active warrant from an incident on August 28th, 2023. On September 19th, 2023, Officers of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division and Criminal Investigations Bureau received a report of two acts of assault, one of terroristic threats, one of criminal mischief, and one of harassment. The victim provided officers with video footage from the incident to assist with the investigation. As a result of that investigation, Mr. Moyet was charged with terroristic threats [2C:12-3A], criminal mischief [2C:17-3], simple assault [2C:12-1A(1)], and harassment [2C:33-4A]. On September 27th, 2023, Mr. Moyet was lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center after his arrest processing.

5. On September 28th, 2023, the Union City Police Department contacted our agency, informing us that they had arrested a male who had an outstanding warrant out of our municipal court. A short time later, Officers from the Union City Police Department transported 37-year-old Samuel M. Crandall of North Bergen, NJ, to our police headquarters for arrest processing. Mr. Crandall could not post the bail amount of $550.00 and was subsequently lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center, pending a court appearance.

The charges above are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
