Nutley Police Advisory - September 28, 2023

Posted Thu, Sep 28, 2023, From Nutley Police
Nutley Police Director Alphonse Petracco and Chief Strumolo are advising of an increase in burglaries to autos.

Unlike the usual thefts in which actors enter unlocked cars, we have responded to several attempted burglaries to homes in an effort to locate keys for targeted vehicles.

Police have responded to Hillside Ave., Povershon, Rutgers, Whitford and Bloomfield Ave over the past several days.

We have increased patrols throughout the township and need residents to remain vigilant. Police made one arrest and identified another actor this week.

We are working with neighboring agencies who are experiencing similar thefts and will continue our coordinated efforts.

Director Petracco said in light of this increase we are alerting our residents so that everyone continues to be vigilant and secure their homes and vehicles. With the weather changing we urge drivers to never leave your vehicle running unattended.

Anyone that observes suspicious activity are urged to contact police and never approach actors. Please call 973-284-4940 or 911
