Guttenberg Police Blotter - September 4th, 2023 to September 10th, 2023

1. On September 4th, 2023, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 34-year-old Ernesto J. Guerra-Perez of Falls Church, VA for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50] and hindering his own apprehension [2C:29-3B]. During their on-scene investigation, it was discovered that Mr. Guerra-Perez had switched places with another passenger in the vehicle, attempting to hide that he was in fact driving the vehicle. Mr. Guerra-Perez was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Guerra-Perez was issued his summons for motor vehicle violations, his complaint summons, and then released from police custody.

2. On September 4th, 2023, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 33-year-old Anthony DeJesus of Bogota, NJ after discovering that he had an active warrant issued by the Bogota Municipal Court. Mr. DeJesus was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Shortly after, members of the Bogota Police Department responded to our police headquarters, where Mr. DeJesus was turned over to their custody.

3. On September 5th, 2023, the Guttenberg Police Department was contacted by the North Bergen Police Department, informing us that they had a defendant in their custody who had an active warrant out of our Municipal Court. Shortly after, 38-year-old Richard A. Milan of Union City, NJ was transported to our police headquarters where he was placed under arrest and processed for the active warrant. Mr. Milan also had an active warrant out of the Weehawken Municipal Court and was later transferred into the custody of members of the Weehawken Police Department. Mr. Milan was released on his own recognizance by our organization, pending his next court appearance.

4. On September 6th, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division located 30-year-old Herman C. Brightman of Central Islip, NY, who had an active warrant out of our Municipal Court after previously eluding officers in a motor vehicle during a motor vehicle stop. Mr. Brightman initially began running away from officers on foot after members of our agency attempted to arrest him. After a brief foot pursuit, Mr. Brightman was successfully apprehended. In addition to the active warrant out of our Municipal Court, Mr. Brightman was charged with obstructing the administration of law [2C:29-1A], hindering his own apprehension [2C:29-3B], two (2) counts of criminal mischief [2C:18-3A], resisting arrest [2C:29-2A(2)], and disorderly conduct [2C:33-2A(2)]. At the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Brightman was issued his complaint warrant and lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.

The charges above are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
