Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

The Public Works Department and the Recycling Center will be closed on Monday, September 4th, for the Labor Day holiday. Monday garbage pickup on the East side of town will take place on its normal Monday schedule.

Tonight at the Elks Lodge is Pizza night from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Your $20 donation supports the Elks charities while you get to enjoy great pizza with friends and neighbors.

Tomorrow, Saturday, at 2 pm the Nature Center invites you to come and meet a live animal and explore your creative side! Use your imagination to create an artistic version of your new animal friend. A perfect activity for adults and children. Sign up today at TenaflyNC.org

The Tenakill Swim Club cordially invites you to their 60th Anniversary Membership Appreciation Day celebration on Sunday, September 3rd, from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Burgers, Veggie Burgers, Kosher Hot Dogs, Chips, and much more! Guests are welcome, pay for their admission at the front desk. Thanks for a great summer at Tenakill!

SAVE THE DATE! The Tenafly Welcome! committee would like to welcome our new residents from September 2022 to the present date to the New Residents’ party at the Peace Plaza next to the library, September 7, from 6:00-8:00 pm. It’s a wonderful fun filled time with catered hors-d’oeuvres, desserts, balloons and raffle prizes! An evening of fun for the whole family! Check your mail for your personal invitation.

On Sunday, September 10 at 1:00 pm, visit the Library Friends Room to hear Tenafly’s own Doctor Julie O'Connor discuss her book United States of Friendship reflecting on the tragic events of 9/11 through friendships that brought eight-year-olds together from hundreds of miles away.

Tenafly’s 9th Annual Community Night is Tuesday, September 12th from 5 pm to 8 pm. Join in for food, drinks, entertainment, amusement rides, a DJ, emergency service demonstrations and the 9/11 mobile museum. Community Night is free to all residents.

This upcoming school year marks the 100th graduating class for Tenafly High School. It is also the 100th year for Tenafly Football, and they will be having their Centennial celebration on Friday, September 29th vs longtime opponent Ridgefield Park. More details to follow!

The Fall 2023 Recreation Programs, Sports and Events guide is available now on the Borough website under Parks & Recreation. Online registration is available to residents on Community Pass.

The Elks are hosting a community garage sale on September 23rd and 24th from 9 AM to 5 PM. For details on participating please call 201-888-4120. All proceeds go towards children with special needs.
