Millburn Police Press Release August 21, 2023

On August 12, 2023 at 04:15 am, Millburn Police Officer Bifano located a stolen vehicle traveling 124 west onto Broad St. The vehicle was a stolen 2021 Dodge Durango, stolen out of Newark. The vehicle previously eluded Springfield PD. Officer Bifano attempted to stop the vehicle and the vehicle fled. Officer Bifano pursued the vehicle east on route 78, but shortly after had to terminate due to safety concerns. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On August 12, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Zonn responded to rear parking lot of Bagel Pantry on Millburn Ave on a report of burglary to a vehicle. The owner reported that two days earlier someone entered his unlocked Van and stole his wallet containing multiple credit cards and $250 of cash. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On August 15, 2023 at 4:20 pm, Millburn Police Officer Matos stopped a 2010 Acura sedan in the parking lot of Trader Joes on Millburn Ave, for having a suspended registration. The investigation led to the arrest of the driver, Phillip Cappelluti, age 62, of Maplewood, for an outstanding traffic warrant out of East Orange. He was transported to Millburn HQ for processing. He was later released on his own recognizance.

On August 18, 2023, at 4:26 am Millburn Police Officer Bifano responded to a Deerfield road residence on a report of a burglary to the residence. The resident reported that an unknown suspect entered the residence through an unlocked window. The actor stole keys to a BMW X5 off the kitchen counter and then exited the residence via the rear door. The suspect then stole the parked BMW in the driveway. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On August 18, 2023, at 9:15 pm, Millburn Police Officer Bifano and Officer Manuyag responded to Walgreens on Millburn Ave on a report of a shoplifting theft that just occurred. Walgreens associates reported that a female (age 32), later identified as Jaime Hamill, out of Newark, had concealed merchandise that included make up, clothing, Ensure and pedialyte, with a total valued at $372.63 and left the store without paying. Officer Bifano and Manuyag were able to locate this female at the Springfield bus stop on Route 124. Hamill was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting. Chatham Police responded to Millburn HQ and took custody of Hamill on an active Chatham arrest warrant.

On August 19, 2023 at 10:25 am, Millburn Police Officer Reid responded to a Stewart road residence on a report of attempted burglary to a motor vehicle. The owner had video footage of two actors walking up her driveway attempting to enter her parked 2019 GMC Yukon. The actors were unsuccessful, because the vehicle was locked. One of the actors then proceeded to the porch and stole an Amazon package containing beauty products. The package was located on the side of the road at the intersection of Stewart Rd and Western drive. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On August 21, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Catinella responded to a Kings Supermarket for a report of a theft that just occurred. Kings associates reported that they have video that shows a Hispanic male select two bottles of Glenlivet Scotch (valued at $103.99 each), place them in shopping cart and then covered them with a re-usable shopping bag. He then left the store without paying. This incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty in a court of law.
